"OUTDOOR GRANDEUR"
PHOTOGRAPHY CONTEST 2004
Capture an image that reflects the great outdoors: be it a waterfall, snow covered
mountains, a scenic beach, or a forest of changing leaves. The photographs will be judged
on their photographic quality and subject material. The pictures can be from any season of
the year. Winning entries will be published in a calendar for the year 2005 on a non-exclusive
basis. A total of 12 cash prizes will be awarded.

First Prize - $1,000 Second Prize - $250 Ten Runners Up - $50 Winning Images Published
The twelve winning images will be published in the "Outdoor Grandeur" calendar for 2005, which is distributed nationally. Each winner will receive several copies of the calendar. Additional copies of the calendar are made available to all of the contestants at a discounted price.
All entries must be postmarked by midnight, July 31st 2004, and should be accompanied by an entry form and entry fee ($5.00). (The deadline was extended 6/1/04)
Winners will be notified after November 1st, 2004. Entrants providing a self addressed stamped envelope will have their materials returned a few weeks after the final selection. Winning images will be held until the publication of the calendar and then returned. Selected images are used on a non-exclusive basis.
Submissions are preferred in 35mm color slide form. Entries from larger film sizes, digital files, and print negatives can be submitted as either 35mm duplicate transparencies, or as photographic prints no larger than 8x10 inches. If selected, Black River Publishing will require the original slide or media for publication. Duplicate slides are suggested for submission in case of loss or damage. Digital files submissions should be at the file’s original resolution and accompanied by either 35mm slide duplicates or paper prints. Please clearly mark all materials (slides, disks, & photographs) with your name and address.
All entries should be of outdoor themes, both landscape and close-up shots are acceptable. Horizontal pictures are preferred to vertical (portrait). Vertical photographs will be considered, yet if selected will require cropping. Images with people as primary subject matter will not be considered.
There is no limit to the number of images that can be submitted. Multiple images should be submitted with a single entry form and entry fee.
Each image must be the work of the person submitting the image, and a signed entry form is required. Entrants under 18 years of age must submit a release from a parent or guardian.
Entries will be evaluated based on appeal, content and photographic skill. The decision of the judges is final. In the event of a tie, duplicate prizes will be awarded.
Black River Publishing assumes no responsibility for submissions. Winning entrants agree that Black River Publishing has the right to use, without further compensation, their photographs for promotion & publication of the "Outdoor Grandeur" calendar and photography contest, as well as other related uses.
Entrants are required to pay a $5 entry fee, regardless of the number of images submitted. The entry fee is per photographer, not per image. (Make checks payable to Black River Publishing)
